Ah....I sense some hope in your posts.

Just because we are prepared for what lies in waiting, does not mean we have no hope.....in fact, is it not hope for a future that drives us to preparation?

Life has never been intended to be easy, it's hard because it is what allows us to grow and improve. There is an old adage that is most assuredly a truism, "That which doesn't kill us, only makes us stronger."
Change is inevitable, and may only be hastened by the current administration in power. The change may be gentle and painless, which I doubt, or it may be swift and violent, which I find more likely.
The sad thing here is that regardless of how it happens, the people in power now will feel that they hadn't been given a fair opportunity to show their plans could work, when it's been proven historically to have never worked in the past.
But that is political. The coming change may be nothing more than a return to earlier values held by a more innocent time. Where people were expected to take care of their own and help others if they could. Personal responsibility rather than the mandated governmental demands on our work and money going to those who are unproductive and have no desire to improve.
There will always be those who have and those who have not, there will always be envy. Hard work and personal sacrifice toward a self determined goal is something that has been lost in the mindset since that more innocent time.
There will be a sea change, it may be more of a re-awakening of human self determination that stands up and refuses to allow a government to dictate what you can do, where you can go, and what you can say and eat.
This may become a violent revolution fought to water the tree of freedom as Thomas Jefferson had said must be done with blood. Or, if we are truly lucky, only the normal flow of events returning to a more conservative value system.
And for those that have a horror filled mind at that thought, you very likely have fallen for propaganda where what I believe in is fascist, very far from the truth that is.
I do not want to feed you today and tomorrow... I want to teach you how to fish so you can feed yourself. That is conservatism, I don't want to control what you think, believe or say. I don't want a government in your bedroom, or any other room of your dwelling. I want very limited government, that answers to the people; not one that has the people terrified to speak out for their concerns.
12/21/2012 may be violent, or it may be a gentle political change back to honest values where people are allowed to make their own decisions without government bureaucrats telling you what you can do. Our government is far too large and over reaching in it's powers, and that was before Ronald Reagan took the Oval Office. He said it well in a speech in the 1970's, government is never the solution, it is almost always the problem.
Anyway, this became a rant on politics where it was unintended. My point is, we have no idea what is going to happen on the date in question, it may be a huge rock impact on the surface, it may be magnetic pole shifts causing untold numbers of violent storms and floods, climate change that happens overnight (something like it did at the beginning of the last ice age), a gigantic x-flare from the sun, a subspace wave front from the center of the galaxy or just something mundane like a traditional election cycle, where the question should be asked, are you better off today than you were 4 years ago? Who knows, only God, but he ain't saying anything to me. Not that we're on speaking terms or anything.
I always get put on hold then forgotten about... and you'd think with a name like Moses I'd be able to at least get a few minutes now and then; oh well.
Lightness aside, the future is unknown, by everyone, there is no predicting what will happen; except that we know something will.
